All framing materials should be designed specifically for the product being installed into it. Sections must provide adequate edge clearance, depth and edge coverage.
Sash frames must be installed square and plumb with no possibility of mechanical stress being placed on the frames. Framing must be structurally sound to prevent sagging, twisting and imposing a load on the glass. The depth of the sash should allow for overall glass thickness plus 1/8″ on each side of the glass for the application of approved tapes and sealants. Glazing beads, sash sections and gasket systems must be a minimum of 3/4″ in height to adequately cover the clearance space and metal spacer in Solar Seal units
Weep systems should be provided at sills to avoid moisture accumulation in the sill clearance and/or materials must be installed to totally repel water from the glazing pocket.
Framing deflection should be limited to 1/175 of the openings length with a 3/4″ maximum deflection.
